New Member Multiple Account Development Program
Most new members join a credit union for a specific
purpose, most often:
- To begin saving on a regular basis,
- To obtain a loan,
- Based on a recommendation from
a family member/friend, or
- Work related opportunity.
When they first join their enthusiasm about the credit
union will never be greater. Many credit unions count
on staff to cross sell to obtain a high multiple account
relationship. While MMSS strongly supports this approach,
there are challenges that prevent this cross-sell effort
from reaching maximum goals. For example:
- Skill to cross sell varies among staff/results
will not be consistent.
- Will the member have time
and/or take time to listen to the staff person?
- During
SEG sign-up days or joining via the Internet/ does
staff have access to the member at the time they
join?
