Checking/ATM/Check Card
In today's competitive environment in order to maximize market share for
checking it is critical for the following products/services to be in place:
• Non-interest bearing* account PLUS an interest bearing account,
• ATM Card and/or Debit Card,
• Home banking (with or without bill payer service).
In our experience we have found it best to market checking in conjunction with
access products and services.
At least once each year a major direct mail campaign is recommended stressing
the benefits the credit union offers and the ease of "moving" a checking
account. Investing in promoting checking on a consistent basis is important -
you want your message in front of members when they are
"checking out" the competition.
* If only a non-interest bearing account is offered, it is recommended that a
money market product be made available.
